Pauline Gracia Beery Mack


Pauline Gracia Beery Mack was an American chemist, home economist, and college administrator. Her research in calcium, nutrition, radiation, and bone density began during the 1930s, and culminated in work for NASA when she was in her seventies.

Pauline Beery was born in Norborne, Missouri. She earned a degree in chemistry at Missouri State University . During World War I she taught high school science in Missouri, before returning to graduate work. She was granted a masters degree in chemistry in 1919, from Columbia University. In 1932, at age 40, she finished her doctoral work at the Pennsylvania State University.
